Meet Mrs. Angie Lowry

We asked our teachers & staff a few questions so that you can get to know them better!

What is your role at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic School?
3rd Grade Teacher

What year did you start working at St. Stephen?
2001-2019 and returned in 2023!

Tell us about your educational background & about your teaching/work experience.

I graduated from Wayne State College with a degree in Elementary Education and an emphasis in Spanish. My first teaching job was here at St. Stephen the Martyr! I taught 4th grade for 14 years and 2nd grade for 8 years after that. This will be my third year teaching 3rd grade and my 25th year of teaching.

What do you love about your job?
Building relationships with students and families is my absolute favorite thing about being a teacher.

Who is your favorite Saint or what is your favorite scripture?
St. Teresa of Calcutta

Tell us about your family (spouse, children, grandchildren, pets, etc.):

My husband Chris and I have 2 boys, Connor & Landon. Connor is 21 and a machinist for Midwest Screw Products. Landon is 18 and a senior at Millard South. They both attended SSM from Pre-K until 8th grade! We also have a Springer Spaniel named Murray.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A cheerleader, a teacher, and a mom – happy to say I accomplished all three!

What is your favorite sweet treat?
Peanut M&Ms

Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
It’s not a hidden talent, but most people who know me would say I’m a great bargain shopper. I always find the best deals!

What’s your favorite thing to do on the weekends?
Hang out with friends, go to new restaurants, and take Murray for walks

What piece of advice would you give parents to help their child(ren) succeed at St. Stephen?
It’s okay to let your children make mistakes. As much as we don’t like to see our children fail, they need to have those experiences now to help them learn how to handle setbacks as they get older.
