17th Annual Martyr Marathon

Friday, September 24th at 10:00 - 11:45 a.m.

Martyr Marathon is our school’s largest fundraiser of the year. Students earn money for the school by walking the marathon route. Students are encouraged to collect pledges from family, friends, neighbors, or businesses to support their effort. Donors then pledge a flat donation in support of our school. We're using a web-based fundraising system, PledgeStar, that makes it MUCH EASIER for you to request pledges from your family and friends, and for them to make secure, credit card donations online. It's fun, it's easy and people who use it typically raise twice as much as those who don't!

The Countdown is On: Race 4 Grace!

Event Overview

How do students collect pledges and raise money? Ask friends and family! We are again using PledgeStar, an online fundraising tool that makes it much easier for your child to request pledges and secure donations from family and friends - both near and far. Please follow the above instructions to register and start fundraising today!

When does the walk/event begin and what does it entail? Students in Transitional Kindergarten (TK)* through 8th grade will walk from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. As our current environment and the forecast can change day to day, our schedule will remain flexible! Our tentative plan is to have an outdoor gathering with a prayer the morning of the event. We will have the classes stagger their walk around the route to make sure we are keeping our distance between classes. *Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Mrs. Gentile’s class will have a specific walk along the route. Preschool classes that do not walk the route will participate in a dance party on a day to be determined.

Spirit Competition! Each class will participate in a spirit competition to showcase their school spirit. This will be pre-recorded and performed in the gym prior to the event. We will start with the older grades and work our way down to the kindergarten classes. Maybe your student's class will come up with a chant, make signs, or do a dance? Special judges will determine First, Second and Third Place winners. Teachers of the winning class won’t be disappointed. There are prizes for those teachers as well!

What is the walking route? The walking route will begin in the SSM East parking lot. Students will take a right out of the parking lot and walk the neighborhood around the school along S. 166th Street before turning right down “V” street. Students will then proceed from “V” street into the SSM South Parking lot and head west around the church. Students will then walk along the North side of the school and through the East lot toward the parking. There will also be ‘fun stations’ set up along the school campus that classes will rotate through. And lastly, popcorn! Popcorn will also be handed out to the classes at the conclusion of the walk.
