Meet Mrs. Anna Lad

We asked our teachers & staff a few questions so that you can get to know them better!

What is your role at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic School?
Teacher Associate

What year did you start working at St. Stephen?

Tell us about your education background & about your teaching/work experience.
I have a B.S. from UNL in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Science. After I graduated, I taught 2nd grade at Lincoln Public Schools and then taught 5 years for Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada.

What do you love about your job?
I love getting to know the kids and all of the AMAZING staff at SSM.

Who is your favorite Saint or what is your favorite scripture?
My favorite saint is Padre Pio. Before our middle child was born we received a special blessing from a Catholic priest named Msgr. Esseff. During the blessing Msgr. Esseff told us "Padre Pio has a special interest in this child." Msgr. Esseff knew St. Padre Pio who was a Spiritual Father to him. We continually pray for her needs with her rare disease through the intercession of St. Pio of Pietrelcina.

Tell us about your family (spouse, children, grandchildren, pets, etc.):
We are a family of five and we have a pug named Mango. My husband Joe is the CEO/co-owner of CypressXM. Vinny is in 5th grade, Gabby is in 3rd grade, and Gianna is in 2nd grade.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a nurse, teacher, or run my own business.

What is your favorite sweet treat?
My favorite sweet treat is key lime pie or tiramisu.

Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
I used to be a pretty good tennis player. I really enjoy cooking and baking. I watch jeopardy daily and love to play board games with my kids. I love being involved with our business and lending my organizational skills and supporting our team in any capacity.

What’s your favorite thing to do on the weekends?
My favorite thing to do on the weekends is to cheer for my kids at their many sporting events.

What piece of advice would you give parents to help their child(ren) succeed at St. Stephen?
The best advice I can offer is to get involved! There are many opportunities to volunteer at the school and/or get involved with the Home and School Association. Building relationships and connecting with the community of St. Stephen will ensure success at school.
