Meet Mrs. Courtenay Swanstrom

What is your role at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic School?
Administrative Assistant

What year did you start working at St. Stephen?
2005

Tell us about your education background & about your teaching/work experience.
I worked in the marketing department in the trucking industry before kids and was a stay at home Mom for many years.

What do you love about your job?
I truly just LOVE kids. I have also made many lifelong friends at SSM over the years.

Who is your favorite Saint or what is your favorite scripture?
My favorite Saint is Francis of Assisi. St. Francis is known for his ministry to the poor and underprivileged and his care for nature and animals.

Tell us about your family (spouse, children, grandchildren, pets, etc.): My husband Steve and I have been married for 27 years. We have one daughter, Mady. She is 23 and a graduate of St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic School!

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was a kid, I wanted to be a nurse.

What is your favorite sweet treat?
I love a good hot fudge sundae!

Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
Honestly, I love to organize! I also like to read books and binge watch a good show!

What’s your favorite thing to do on the weekends?
Eat at yummy restaurants, spend time outside, and during football season we go to Husker football games.

What piece of advice would you give parents to help their child(ren) succeed at St. Stephen?
Get involved–both parents and children; sports, school musical, be greeter at Mass, go to school and parish sponsored events. It makes everyone feel like they are part of the community.
