Meet Mrs. Missy Delaney

What year did you start working at St. Stephen?
2022

Tell us about your education background & about your teaching/work experience.
I have a BA from University of Minnesota-Morris, MS in community counseling from UNO. I have worked as a school counselor and in student services for over 25 years. I have also taught psychology and developmental courses at many colleges and community colleges over my career. Most recently, before working at St. Stephen the Martyr, I worked with students to improve neurodevelopment to improve academic, behavioral and social skills.

What do you love about your job?
Helping students feel more confident in school.

Who is your favorite Saint or what is your favorite scripture?
Numbers 6:24-26

Tell us about your family (spouse, children, grandchildren, pets, etc.):
I have been married for 32 years and we have 3 grown daughters. Our family moved a lot while Jeff was in the Army and we were fortunate to live in many different places, but Omaha is home. Our love of animals has been successfully passed down to all three of our children and in total, we have 8 dogs.

What is your favorite sweet treat?
My mom’s fudge brownie bars or my grandma’s homemade ice cream

What’s your favorite thing to do on the weekends?
Hangout with my family

What piece of advice would you give parents to help their child(ren) succeed at St. Stephen?
Don’t be too quick to step in when you see your child struggling but rather provide guidance that allows your child to problem solve to gain confidence for the next struggle.
