Tell us about your education background & about your teaching/work experience.
Education: Degree in Elementary Education with an Endorsement in Middle School Mathematics from Doane University.
I have been part of a classroom setting for around 5 years now, I started out as a teacher’s aide. Then through Doane University, I have been a practicum student and student teacher every semester.
What do you love about your job?
I LOVE teaching middle school. I have the wonderful opportunity to watch students grow during their most vulnerable times to their true selves. Forming connections and knowing just how to support a variety of students is truly a reward from teaching Middle School.
Who is your favorite Saint or what is your favorite scripture?
My favorite Saint is Saint Teresa of Calcutta. My favorite scripture is “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you” 1 Peter 5:7
Tell us about your family (spouse, children, grandchildren, pets, etc.):
I married my husband, Alec, in July 2023! I have an all black cat named Sprinkles!
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I went back and fourth between wanting to be a nurse (like my mom) or a teacher!
What is your favorite sweet treat?
Oreos
Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
I love to listen and sing to music! You will probably hear me humming in my classroom all day long!
What’s your favorite thing to do on the weekends?
I love to spend time with my friends and family. I also love to solve puzzles and read.
What piece of advice would you give parents to help their child(ren) succeed at St. Stephen?
Always remember to lead with kindness, practice compassion and show patience.
