2026
Tell us about your experience in education:
I have taught for 24 years in the 3rd and 6th grade in the Papillion LaVista School District.
What do you love most about the St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic School community?
I am excited to start a new adventure in teaching at St. Stephen’s. So far everyone that I have encountered has welcomed me into the St. Stephen family, which has been truly heart warming.
What piece of advice would you give parents to help their child(ren) succeed at St. Stephen?
School is a gift. Your child gets to receive this gift everyday. Be an active partner with this gift. Ask about their favorite thing they learned today, and why. Least favorite thing they learned and why. Remember to have an open line of communication so I can help you help your child succeed.
What, in your experience, is the best part about teaching at a Catholic school?
The best part about teaching at a Catholic school is being able to bring the Lord Jesus into our classroom everyday.
Tell us about your family (spouse, children, grandchildren, pets, etc.):
My name is Jackie Torczon, and I am absolutely thrilled to be teaching fifth-grade math and social studies this year. After spending 24 incredible years teaching third and sixth grade in the Papillion LaVista school district, I am so excited to bring my passion for learning and dedication to the St. Stephen family. When I am not in the classroom, my life revolves around my wonderful family. My husband, John, and I have two daughters, Paula (married to AJay) and Ashley (married to Greg). They have blessed us with our greatest adventure yet: seven amazing grandchildren! You will undoubtedly hear all about them from your child this year because I talk about them constantly. My grandkids keep me incredibly busy with their active lives: MacKenzie is completing her final year of nursing school in Arizona; Mylee is a sophomore and cheerleader at Millard West; Macee is an eighth-grader who loves volleyball; Nixon is a fifth-grader playing football, baseball, and basketball; Harper is entering third grade and plays basketball and volleyball; and finally, our “double trouble” second-graders, Calvin and Carson, both play basketball, baseball, and football. Because of this packed lineup, you can usually find me cheering at a youth sporting event whenever I am not teaching. When we aren’t at a game, my family loves going on adventures and vacations together. This summer was especially memorable, filled with boating during our stay at Big Cedar Lodge and an unforgettable trip to Yellowstone. While there, I finally checked a major item off my bucket list by going fly fishing—and yes, I actually caught a beautiful rainbow trout! I am so eager to channel that same spirit of adventure, energy, and community into our classroom, and I look forward to a fantastic year of growth and partnership with you and your child.
What is your favorite sweet or salty treat?
I am not picky, and love just about anything.
What is your favorite coffee/drink order?
Iced brown sugar shaken oat milk espresso – Blend, energy teas, iced tea
