Tell us about your experience in education:
My name is Dr. Sarah Valasek. I have a strong academic background in education and several years of experience in teaching and learning. Over the years, I have earned the following degrees- Doctorate in Leadership and Administration, Masters in Educational Leadership, Masters in Early Childhood, Bachelors in Elementary Education as well as endorsements in Bilingual Education and English as a Second Language.
Throughout my career, I have also held various teaching positions, working with students of different ages and learning needs. I have been blessed to have served as a Catholic School Principal, Summer School Principal, K-12 Professional Development Instructor, K-5 Spanish Educator, IB PYP K-2 Educator and Dual Language Educator.
What do you love most about the St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic School community?
I love the engaging community and positive culture of connectedness between the Parish and the Catholic school. It is evident that those called to serve in this community honor their commitment to faith, fellowship and fun!
What piece of advice would you give parents to help their child(ren) succeed at St. Stephen?
Get connected! Use your strengths and interests to find where you belong at St. Stephen Catholic School. There is something for everyone here- from coaching, to Home and School, to volunteering in the classrooms- we look forward to welcoming you to your new school family!
What, in your experience, is the best part about teaching at a Catholic school?
I love being able to share God’s love and His word to my students, colleagues, and the community each and every day. Experiencing and seeing Christ’s love for us at work through special moments in the school environment is a blessing.
Tell us about your family (spouse, children, grandchildren, pets, etc.):
My husband and I have 3 daughters, Arianna (19), Celeste (17) and Brooke(12). We also have a Choc. Lab named Gracie! We have been Parishioners at SSM for 18 years and enjoy being involved with Women’s ministry, Religious Education Board, VBS and community events. We love camping, spending time with friends/family and being traveling when not at church or school!

Gluten free salty popcorn with red licorice and m & m’s
