Tell us about your educational background & your teaching/work experience.
I attended St. Vincent de Paul for elementary school and Marian for High School. I then attended the University of Nebraska- Lincoln where I received my degree in Elementary Education. I earned my Masters degree from Doane University in Curriculum and Instruction. I began my teaching career in the Papillion La-Vista school district at Patriot Elementary for 10 years. Then I had the opportunity to open and teach at Ashbury Elementary before moving to SSM. I have taught 2nd grade for my entire career so far 🙂
What do you love most about the St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic School community?
Our community feels like a family. The teachers care for their students as if they are their own children. Parents are incredibly supportive of the teachers as well!
What piece of advice would you give parents to help their child(ren) succeed at St. Stephen?
Lead with love and teach your child to do the same. <3
What, in your experience, is the best part about teaching at a Catholic school?
Preparing my students to receive the sacrament of First Communion and First Reconciliation. Bringing faith into the classroom each and every day is a huge blessing!
Who is your favorite Saint or what is your favorite scripture?
St. Francis of Assisi- The patron saint of compassion.
Tell us about your family (spouse, children, grandchildren, pets, etc.):
I have been married to my husband Adam for 13 years. We have 3 children. Will (11) is in fifth grade, Everly (9) is in fourth grade, and Theo (5) is in kindergarten. They all attend SSM, and I love being here with them!
What is your favorite sweet or salty treat?
Hot Tamales & Dot’s honey mustard pretzels
What is your favorite coffee/drink order?
White chocolate mocha
