Meet Mrs. Jenny Jensen
We asked our teachers & staff a few questions so that you can get to know them better!
What is your role at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic School?
4th Grade Teacher
What year did you start working at St. Stephen?
2024
Tell us about your educational background & your teaching/work experience.
I taught 4th grade for 3 years in Houston, TX and 7 more years in Omaha Public Schools. Then I decided to stay home with my kids and open a daycare. I did that for 9 years and then returned to teaching here 2 years ago.
What do you love most about the St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic School community?
I love seeing siblings of past students coming to my classroom along with meeting new families. Although I have only been her 2 years, I have met some amazing people!
What piece of advice would you give parents to help their child(ren) succeed at St. Stephen?
You can help your child succeed by helping them become more and more independent as they grow. As a parent, we want to help and protect them, but I once heard a great piece of advice that has stayed with me: as a parent we should always be working ourselves out of a job. Just don’t forget to love them on the way!
What, in your experience, is the best part about teaching at a Catholic school?
I love being able to openly show my faith to students and how they can use that faith in their daily life. I love having the freedom to teach with the talents that God gave me.
Tell us about your family (spouse, children, grandchildren, pets, etc.):
I am in the stage that many of you are: chauffeur. I have been married for 18 years and we have 3 busy kids. My oldest son Ian will be a freshman at Gross HS this year and towers over me at 6’2″ with more growth to come. My second son Dominic will be a 7th grader at St Columbkille and has artistic skills that did not come from me! My daughter and youngest child Grace will be a 4th grader at St Columbkille. She is feisty and tough since she has to keep up with her brothers. We have cat named Paige who Grace loves to smother with her love.
What is your favorite sweet or salty treat?
Anything chocolate, especially dark chocolate!
What is your favorite coffee/drink order?
Mocha, both iced or hot.
