Hosted by Home & School and partially funded through a grant from the Nebraska Arts Council, our school musical introduces 1st-8th grade students to everything that goes into the production of a musical! From acting, singing, and dancing to lighting, sound, set design, our students learn and grow together with instruction from professional musicians, directors, and choreographers.
Thank you for a wonderful production of Matilda Jr.!
6th-8th grade students who wish to take on a lead role in the musical. Everyone who auditions will be given a role.
1st-5th grade students do not audition for their roles. Students in these grades perform songs and dances as part of a group in their grade. Everyone gets a part. Rehearsals usually begin in January. Participation during Tech Week (final rehearsals before performances) is mandatory.
Students in grades 6th-8th can participate as part of the Tech Crew. The Tech Crew is a key part of bringing the musical to life. As a tech crew member, you will help with lighting, sound, stage management, and production management. Tech Crew rehearsals start a bit later after general rehearsals begin. If you don’t feel like acting, this is the perfect opportunity to be a part of this experience.
Students in grades 6th-8th can also register to be part of the Backstage Crew. The Backstage Crew is another key part of bringing the musical to life. As a backstage crew member, you will help with production and stage management. This means you will be helping to keep the actors on cue, make sure all props are in place, and the scene changes run smoothly. It gets a bit stressful in the back, but it’s a lot of fun!
All Actors, Backstage, and Tech crew members in grades 4th-8th grade who register for the musical can also join our Scenic Design Team and help create sets and props for the musical. Interested young artists are invited to join us on select Saturdays or Sundays during the rehearsal period for our Scenery Workshops. We’ll be sketching designs, collaborating with other young artists to finalize our plans, and drawing and painting our scenery together. It’s a messy but fun way to spend your weekend! It’s also a great family team-building activity! Scenery Workshops will be noted on the Rehearsal Schedule.
The rehearsal schedule is not yet available. Once completed, the Google spreadsheet will be posted below. We highly recommend bookmarking it for easy access!
Parents are required to volunteer a minimum of 2 rehearsals as part of putting the show together. Volunteers must be Safe Environment Trained – no exceptions. Please coordinate with the Parish Office to ensure your certification is up to date. Sign up coming soon!
